Hello Community,

When I practicing PMP situational question, I feel they are not consensus for all PMs ( some of them refers to that R.E.Ps who made those PMP questions and I was surprised is PMI check those situational questions before they put them for PMP exam).
Is PMI have a future plan how can control over those R.E.Ps ? or PMI will be a competitor?
Thanks for your thought and contribution.

Mansour -

Not sure if I understand your question fully, but the PMP exam questions are NOT created by REPs. PMI organizes exam item (question) analysis and writing sessions where they call volunteers from across the membership to review existing questions (in the hopes of improving them) and write new ones.

Those new questions will go through a fairly thorough review process before they are added to the general "pool". Then, they will be part of the control questions which are not scored to get actual data on how candidates are answering them.

Only if the statistical data for how those questions were answered in the control mode looks good will they be activated as "real" questions which would count towards a pass/fail grade.

Now if you are referring to practice questions from PMI or other sources, I can't comment on the quality level - it will vary based on the experience of the writers and the QC processes utilized to test their effectiveness relative to the questions in the real exam.

Questions/answers on the exam should be answered based on the PMBOK. Applying personal experience or judgement may not align with what the question is looking for.

This is one of the reasons why some PMs with a lot of experience struggle on the PMP, because they can't help but think about the way they do their work in their organization. When taking the exam, you really must focus on what the best answer is according to the PMBOK.
