Hi,
I'm looking studies, lessons learned about project portfolio governance in case of product centric organization.
Have you ever worked as a portfolio manager in this kind of organization, which kind of kpi have implemented?
Thank you? Saving Changes...
Not sure about studies, but remember that in a product-centric organization they may not always manage their releases as projects. Drs. Cooper and Edgett wrote a good book on portfolio management a couple of decades ago titled "Portfolio Management For New Products" - you may wish to read that.
In general, for a profit-based organization, the main KPIs would be financial-oriented. For example, a macro one would be the ROI on the overall portfolio investments made in a per quarter/per fiscal year time frame.
I've managed different types of portfolios at an aircraft OEM and the KPIs differ depending on the type of portfolio.
For example, a cost improvement portfolio would be more focused on ROI and NRE (non-recurring effort) and other things that would impact the operational performance. A product development portfolio might include things like environmental impact, projected sales, weight, and other items relative to strategy and future revenue potential. Saving Changes...
