Business owner AND a program owner, is there a difference?

My role is evolving faster then I can comprehend.

At the beginning of the year I was a Project Manager and we had just begun to establish a PMO.
My new boss has decided we should be program owners and thought leaders and decider's, the BA, the PM and the SME and the newest one - SCRUM masters.
I continue to have projects that have a beginning, middle and end. One that is agile, one that is waterfall. The direction and advice I get about what my role should be do not line up with what I am doing. What can I do for sanity?

Hi

What is PMO, how to set-up -

Hope it is helpful, but if you are going to Manage the PMO why are you still undertaking hands on Project Management Projects!
Think about what your role is within the PMO, is it a Project Manager or are you going to be the Programme Project Manager, or Programme Project Officer - get your role sorted and agreed before doing anything else, at least you will have a clear specific job description so there is no misunderstanding later on...
