One of my colleagues taught a PMP Prep course in early April, and one of the candidates in her class took and passed the online exam.
Here is the un-edited feedback from that individual:
"First of all, I learned that if you have an in-person exam scheduled, you will not see the online option. In order to see it, you need to cancel your exam (Fees are waved for now), and then re-apply and you will see the option.
I will do a quick bullet list of things that are good to know:
• you require a working webcam and microphone
• you can not have your phone near you during the test
• the test is open 30 minutes before to allow you to do the check-in process, which I will detail below
o it performs a systems test to ensure your internet speed is sufficient, and that you have a working microphone and webcam.
o they make you take pictures of your face, your ID (drivers license, etc) and 4 pictures of your desk area (front, back, left, right)
o you sign disclaimers about not sharing details of the test, etc.
• there is a tutorial at the beginning that lets you get used to the provided calculator and whiteboard (YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED A PHYSICAL CALCULATOR OR SCRATCH PAD/PEN)
o the whiteboard has plenty of functionality, and allows you to use text, which would allow the “brain dump”
o here’s an overview of the feature https://home.pearsonvue.com/op/online-proc...eboard-overview o unfortunately the calculator must be operated with the mouse. It does not interact with your keyboard
• they make you download and install an application (OnVue) which, once the test begins takes over your full screen
• highlight/strike through options are available, but the application makes you highlight the text, and then choose strikeout or highlight (there are keyboard functions, but they are not very intuitive. I think highlight was Alt+J for example)
• There is a chat function at the top. If you click it, it calls a proctor (they won’t be immediate). I did this at the beginning just to see the feature, not realizing how it worked. They just wished me luck, and I proceeded??. This function would be used by the proctor in case of technical issues. If they could not reach you there, they would reach out via phone (this is your only exception to the phone rule)
• just a tidbit, because I was unsure – I had snacks beside me on my desk and ate them along the way, as well as water of course. They did not raise any concerns.
• The 10 minute break allowed me to use the restroom and stretch a bit. I only used around 4 minutes.
Aside from that, the interface is pretty intuitive. Everything I explained above is walked through in the tutorial.
For more information on it, here’s a link. In fact, this is where you need to go to take the test when it’s time!

It would be great if others who have taken the PMP exam online in the near term could share their experiences! Saving Changes...

And do you have to pay fees to reschedule your exam for this issue ?
Hi folks,
I'm just in that situation where you can't imagine how I'm frustrated!!!
Right now writing this message I should still be in the middle of my exam planned today. But Proctor (or Pearsonvue, I don't know who is who...) guys through onVue application had interrupted my exam, apologized for this interruption, and send me the below email. He said that onVue was no more working, in the middle of the exam ! but how was it possible it was working for one hour and then stopped !?! It was on my company laptop, yes, and it took 1 hour to be ready starting the exam. My company IT had previously turned off my firewall, and all the apps where turned off in the windows apps manager. However it didn't work... :

You can't imagine how frustrating it is to arrive in the middle of you exam being interrupted like that after so many time to get prepared the right date! now I have to expect they will not ask me for re-booking exam fees and that I can re-pass the exam within not so much time to still be ready for the next one...

Ugh... That's awful, Pierre-Marie.
Make sure you follow-up with PMI directly, not just Pearson Vue! It's amazing how the two sides are often disconnected.
Bonne chance, mon ami.

I can just imagine how frustrating this must be. Sorry this is happening and hope it will be resolved soon.
Congratulations, Tayyab! I passed my ACP exam on a Sunday. The next day, my ACP showed on My PMI profile. The email followed a day or so later. A few weeks later, I received my printed certificate in the mail.
How was the exam for you?
Many thanks for wishes mate.
My exam went smooth. No technical glitches whatsoever. Proctor was very nice and accommodating and didn’t interrupt me during all three hours.
I found exam difficult than what I was expecting. I scored around 75% to 80% in prepcast mock tests and thought I was well prepared.
However, exam was nothing like mock tests. Around 10-15 items, I had no idea and just used the my guess to choose the best answer.
On the other hand, around 20-25 questions were relatively easy and straightforward.
I completed my exam in around 2 hours 45 minutes and spent last 15 minutes to review. Changed couple of answers.
Overall, I would term this exam between medium to difficult and suggest the candidates to appear in quality mock tests bcoz real exam doesn’t test one on definitions but real scenarios.

I fully agree!!! and (despite my exam was terminated before end for technical issue...) I feel exactly the same / so my comment before taking the next chance when I will have rescheduled my exam : what is the best online course with mock tests closer to reality = what exactly the PMP exam is ?

Hi Pierre-Marie, make sure you follow up with PearsonVUE in 3 business days. Then they might direct you to contact PMI for rescheduling. Do not keep waiting! PearsonVUE is not responsive at all, and I wasted one week waiting for them! And yes, PMI would need you to restate your scenario as PearsonVUE would not share any information with them.
You can call PMI on the number +1-610-356-4600 (Select Option #8).
