Hi I was wondering if any of these methods will be approved by PMI to count towards 35 contact hours required for PMP certification?>
(1) Any of the free online PMP training courses as mentioned in this link -
(2) Self Study?

I am a 17 year veteran in PM kind of roles. Due to new customer RFP requirements, I have to have this certification. I just didn't want to spend too much time or money and hence I was looking for faster and cheaper options.

Please advise.

Hi -

I was just looking up this guideline on the PMI website.
Self paced study via online training, reading articles, etc counts under section 2D

It allows a maximum of 15 hours per accreditation cycle to be awarded.
If the webinars have information on how PDUs can earned for viewing the webinar, they will provide a registration code for you as well.

Take a look at page 29 of the PMP Credential Handbook

No, Krish.

First, there is a difference between "Contact Hours" and "PDUs". Andrew's comments only apply to PDUs after you have already earned your PMP exam. See the section on Contact Hours in the requirements of the PMP Handbook.

The 35 Contact Hours requirement can be fulfilled with structured in-class training or some providers offer it online too. You must pass a test if you do it online and present a certificate for the hours. I doubt you'll get this for free, but you can do it for as little as $100. I suggest a PMI R.E.P. if you are thinking about doing it online. The one I recommend is here.

I also put out a newsletter for people who are going for their PMP certification you may want to check out.

I'm not sure if a FREE training resource is reliable enough. I took my online course from Career Academy (http://bit.ly/2fnjzjJ) when they had a promo of 70% off, their regular price is only $99 so it's really affordable. There are a lot of sites that gives a discount or promotion for people to try out their training, the site I mentioned is PMI registered and I was able to earn the contact hours I needed so I was happy with their membership.
