Hi! I'm studying to take my PMP Certification Test and put together a robust study plan but am wondering if I should organize my project plan by Knowledge Areas or Life Cycle process?

I presume by life cycle process you mean process groups?

My suggestion is to do a pass-through by process groups, then one pass through by knowledge areas. This will allow you to get at your knowledge from different angles.

I like the way the Rita Mulcahy book is laid it. It's designed to go hand in hand with the PMBOK which is by Process Groups.
