I was on a networking call this morning where the question came up; how will your industry be disrupted due to COVID?
My response is below, but what do you think will change? Any "disruption" to call out?
My short response was Project Management is all about change. We implement change internal to companies and external to clients, customers and stakeholders. Our profession has new and evolving frameworks to learn and implement where necessary. We're used to it.
Instead, I've been focusing on what's evergreen and putting more of a focus on that; team communication both 1:1 and as a group, stakeholder engagement, general soft and communication skills but laser focused while we're at home. Also, focus on selecting the "right" projects that add the most value and reduce overhead/redundancy wherever we can. Saving Changes...

One of the jokes going around is that COVID-19 is responsible for the accelerated Digital Transformation of organizations.
This honestly is very true. Traditional/Typical IT companies have been reworking their strategies since the WFH-era began a few weeks ago. The post-COVID world will not be the same as what it was earlier.
Project Management per-se may not change, but the environment in which it will be done (home, remote, video-calls, etc.) will definitely be different.
Certain competencies such as working with remote stakeholders will need to be enhanced and we will need to do a little "better" to encourage our customers to not look for cheaper remote labor elsewhere just because all of us are working remotely.
Our plans will also need to be more dynamic given the potential for drastic changes resulting from unplanned staff shortages or budget cuts.
