What will the new norm look like for project management?

The coronavirus has changed our country and the world for the distant future. Wearing masks, social distancing, no large crowds will be with us for some time.
Prior to the pandemic, the focus was on future work driven by new technologies (Robotics, AI, Big Data, etc) Do you think the new norm will continue to focus on future jobs or something elase?. Saving Changes...

John,
Good question and one I was asked on a call last week. As PM's, we're used to change. New frameworks, tools, teams, always something new. Technology will continue to play a role. As you note, AI and data will evolve and change the way we work.
What I've focused on more recently, though, it what stays the same. Communication, collaboration, teamwork, stakeholder management and soft skills in general. We need to be hyper-vigilant now as team members are working from home. Some deal with isolation better than others. I focus on being an open communicator and touching base with teams and 1:1 frequently.

John, very well said.

The impact of COVID-19 will generate a set of new EEFs and quality requirements for many projects.
Projects whose delivery approaches required significant in person presence or close proximity may need to be rethought.
The examples of new technology driven projects will still be relevant but there could be some new ones added. I can see a new service industry of consultants helping companies adapt to this new normal...

the Corona virus impact in nothing except to push organizations and people to use what they know must be using and behave as they know have to behave. As somebody that research and use IA and all related things from 1986 let me say that it is a perspective closer to science fiction instead close to reality. Saving Changes...

As we look forward to the lifting of the work from home directive, projects will have to rethink what co-located teams look like in the new normal. There are health care workers who hope that the handshake will become obsolete. Saving Changes...
