Looking under Topics/PMO/What is the role of the PMO?, or How is a PMO established? or How is a PMO effectively managed? or What are success indicators for a PMO? there seems to be no new content. Nothing added in the last six years. Is there no new research on PMO? Are they a dead subject?

To much questions my friend, jejejeje. It is simple: PMO is a business unitr that must be created as any other business unit: because the enteprise architecture designed according to the strategy. No more than that

Okay. But why does this website have no new content in the last 6 years under those tabs? There must be new best practices?

I doubt it is a sign that PMOs are obsolete. PMI's PMO Symposium a couple of years back had hundreds of attendees. As with all communities, certain topics will draw more or less attention but I wouldn't extrapolate that to a macro-level assessment.

Now I understand. Sorry my mistake. I answered because I missunderstand your question. I really do not know about Topics/PMO/What is the role of the PMO

No. Not supporting and fighting the PMO is what should be obsolete.

I think this is more an issue of taxonomy than of obsolescence. If you go up a level, there is more recent content from people like Andy Jordan. If you look at the community, there is still a lot going on: Laura Barnard recently ran a virtual PMO Summit (https://pmoimpactsummit.com/), and the #PMOWfh meetup for PMO people working from home ran for 24 consecutive weeks this year with a consistent and loyal attendee base from the PMO community.
Sites such as https://www.hotpmo.com and https://www.pmoflashmob.org continue to add new content on a regular basis.
You see a similar issue in other areas of the site too. Look at Topics | Leadership | What are the various types of leadership? There has been nothing new here for six years either, but it would surely be wrong to extrapolate that leadership is a dead subject ;)

I see where one young boy has just passed 500 hours sitting in a treetop. There is a good deal of discussion as to what to do with a civilization that produces prodigies like that. Wouldn't it be a good idea to take his ladder away from him and leave him up there?
