Hi,

I just finished the Basics of Disciplined Agile Online Course, and I'd like to share my thoughts:
- Very didactic course.
- Simple and clear language.
- Easy to follow as an introductory tool to DA.
- Good starting point for someone interested in DA.
- Great examples.
- Adding some activities/exercises besides the Q&A might provide additional ways for better understanding the concepts presented.
- It took me a lot less time to end the course, than expected.
- I found it a little bit expensive for members, even with the discounts received. Maybe such a tool should be free or less expensive for members, in a time DA is gaining momentum among PMI's community.

Anyone who tried it wants to share its thoughts?

Or you could just sign up for my three day workshop, Andrew, and get certified :-)

Hi Kiron,
I am planning to take the 'Basics of Disciplined Agile' online at PMI. However, I am wondering if that gives me any certificate, such as CDA or CDAP?

What about the 3-day workshop you mentioned above, i.e., cost, schedule, and certification name?

Thank you for your time.

PMI has recently re-vamped their agile certification roadmap. The old CDA, CDAP and DALSM certifications have been replaced by the new DASM and DASSM certifications. The first requires no agile experience, completion of a 2 day workshop from a DA partner and passing an exam whereas the latter requires 2 years of agile leadership experience, completion of a (different) 2 day workshop from a DA partner and passing an exam.

My company will be offering the DASSM 2 day workshop in the January or February timeframe as the courseware and exam are being launched by PMI in early December.

Yes, to get certified you have to take a DALSM workshop from a DA partner (not a PMI REP as the partner programs are still separate).

Dear Kiron,

Maybe I may ask for your advice here. I am choosing between two basic courses now available online:
Basics of Disciplined Agileā„¢ Online Course (200 usd) and
Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (400 usd).

I am not new to agile, I have advanced SM certification. I am thinking which course will better accommodate my need to understand better the offers and exact ways to apply DAD in my organization which is on scrum now.

Even though price is not much different, I don't have that much to invest in both. However, I am worried that Basic course could be too basic for me.

Another option, maybe I may start right away from advanced DAD scrum master course with the instructor.

Thank you!

If you have two years or more of SM experience, I'd recommend the most cost effective option would be:

1. Download and read Choose Your WoW (free for PMI members)

2. Sign up for a DASSM workshop from a nearby (timezone-wise) provider, write the exam, and earn that credential.
