This is the topic I discussed with some colleagues interested in the uses of social media for project management. Our discussion ended up as this podcast: http://parallelprojecttraining.libsyn.com/..._waste_of_time_

If you listen to it, you'll hear that I come down on the side that it is worth investigating the uses of social media for project management. But not everyone is in agreement. What do you think?

Great show! Here's Elizabeth's link in clickable format, I recommend everyone listen!

I suppose it depends on what your definition of social media is...people tend to think of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn among others (at the moment). I would also point people to this interview of Hal Macomber by Bas De Baar for more on this topic.

I just listened to the part about "controlling what your team is saying" and was rooting you on Elizabeth.

I come from a very Theory-Y perspective and so in my opinion, if my team can't be trusted to talk to my customer, I may be thinking about replacing them. I wrote about this just a bit ago: Are You The Bottleneck?

Josh, thanks! I haven't worked out how to put clickable links in yet :(
