I am curious about why you consider the new trends in project management and everything that surrounds projects like workforce and organizations?

I have listed four:

1. Mobile independent workforce
2. Organizations as project facilitation
3. Digital marketplace
4. Infrastructure: from digital to workplaces

You can read it here if you feel like it :)

What do you think?

Interesting!

As a sub-set of 3 I would add the role of digital archivist - so much of our info is electronic these days.

Good point. I would prefer it under point 4 but he, potato potAto.

I've been thinking a lot lately about the "Project Manager as Well-Rounded Business Person". I've seen a lot more discussion recently about the PM needing:

- business analysis skills

- cultural change skills

- leadership skills

- financial management skills

I feel like a lot of this is driven by the (what seems like a permanent) flattening of organizations. Few can afford people in all of these roles, so one person has to wear many hats. I think this has broad reaching implications for everyone in PM.

Good point Dave. It almost feels like project management becomes a small part of general management. It might be easier to learn all managers PM than try to turn PMs into generalist managers.
