Hello everyone, basically I have been in the web projects management area for a while now and regularly managed projects with teams scattered all over the globe. A lot of organizations these days use agile methodologies for software development. However one of the main features that makes agile seem faster than traditional methodologies is the fact that less documentation is produced in favor for more face to face communication.. regularly answering what have I done, what do i intend to do today, what are the problems I have encountered and what could come in handy....done briefly by all team members. I believe that this really promotes team spirit and in several situation allows team members helping each other in the spirit of working towards the same goal. However, this is quite challenging with teams where a member might be preparing to go to sleep while another is waking up to go to work and another one is taking a lunch break. I have experienced this problem first hand and as I haven't found any real intergrated solution on the market (please suggest if you know of any) that allows real-time team communication, work status updates, alongside PM tools such as job allocation, monitoring ....to give a better picture, I haven't seen a system that provides an integral solution providing features made available in systems such as unfuddle, conceptshare , im tools, facebook.
I am now off work and back to university and have reached a phase where I am soon to provide a dissertation. I am trying to provide a solution that provides a platform for all the above.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE :) you might want as upon completion, I will be making this tool FREELY available to anyone. So I kindly request you to remember some of the "if only these could do that for me" moments or some of the other frustrating things you might have come across and wished there was a solution. Now is the time to suggest. I am really dedicating myself to making our pm lives a little less frustrating.
I am a firm believer in communication which I believe makes a HUGE impact on the success of projects especially in REMOTE situations whereby I think graphical requirements representation are extremely useful in comparison to long FSDs and N-FSDs.
Thus my aim is to provide an integrated project management platform covering all the 9 skill areas + change management + close monitoring and feedback of all the SDLC phases. I intend on making a platform that allows US to easily express requirements as well as allowing team members to easily understand requirements.
What else do you think that we need as project managers of globally scattered teams working on agile methodologies?
