My job position was cut due to COVID-19; and currently I am in transition-looking for a new job opportunity.
- How much will this change affect my credibility in becoming a certified PM (hands-on experience)
- PMI profile update: "Title & company name": what is the proper update/title until I land a new job ; and
- How do I present my "interrupted" project experience in my application for PMP exam?
Thanks

Sonja -

Sorry to hear about your job loss - hopefully it is just a temporary situation!

1. If you have been a PM before and are looking for a PM role, I doubt there will be any credibility impact as many folks have been impacted in all professions.

2. I'd suggest "Looking for my next project manager opportunity" or something similar.

3. PMI doesn't care if there's a gap in your experience but only if you meet their experience criteria re: 34/48 months of non-overlapping PM experience over the past eight years.

Good luck in your search!

HI Sonja,
I am truly sorry about your job lost...
Don't throw away the fighting spirit... stay hopeful and positive, you will surely get another position surely.

Well, to the best of my knowledge, your credibility in becoming a certified PM wouldn't be affected especially if you've been involved in projects before the Covid-19 season.

Wishing you all the best

Sorry to hear, Sonja. Agreed with the others that there shouldn't be a loss in credibility of PM as a profession. In fact, it's likely that there will be opportunities when budgets are re-allocated that there will be for digital transformation projects. Be patient, and perhaps take this time to skill up?

Sonja, the other comments are certainly valid and helpful... I would add- now is a GREAT time to do volunteer work for your local PMI chapter - which will serve you directly in 2 ways: Your PM skills will stay sharp; you will be continuing to amass PDU credits towards maintaining your PMP (or other PMI) certification. Most importantly you will be increasing your network to help you find your next role!
