One of the biggest changes in it (aligning with the new application form) is they've dropped any mention of 4500/7500 hours of experience and are only focusing on (duration) months of experience.
They have also added a third category in the prerequisites section, giving preferential treatment to those with a "Bachelor's or post-graduate degree from a GAC accredited program (bachelor’s degree or master's or global equivalent)"
I do see the mention of 4500/7500 hours on page 9 of the handbook under the "PMP Eligibility Requirements" section. But yes, on page 11, the focus seems to be capturing experience in months. A little confusing but it should be easier to capture the experience in months than hours.

Sorry Mohit - I updated the link as I had provided an incorrect link yesterday. Check this one out - no mention of the 4500/7500 hours...

I think while it might be easier to update the experience in months (than hours), I am not too sure if it is a good idea to substitute "experience" with a graduate degree in project management....
Using the GAC course work to fulfill the 35 education contact hour requirement should still be fine since it gives you the foundation knowledge but I am not a fan of giving 12 months credit towards work experience.....work experience can't be substituted for education.

Thanks for sharing this.
Removing the hours is a good move. Number of months makes more sense to me.
As for the recognition of GAC, I don’t know much about them but I know they are an accreditation body for Project Management and if so, that is a good addition too.

I'm skeptical, Rami, as someone might have worked only a fraction of the time over those months as a "part-time" PM and hence it does feel that the entry criteria have been relaxed...

Sure - they are only checking for months of experience over a span of time. They are not looking at effort spent. As such, I could have been a part-time PM over a 36 month period of time at 5% and still submit my application. This would be significantly less than the previous 4500 hour requirement.

Giot it, I didn't think about it in this fashion but yes, you are absolutely right.

For the overlapping projects, in my opinion, it makes sense, but not for the other projects without overlap (please see Project 3 on page 7 on the doc). Are we becoming more profit-oriented than qualification/quality oriented? Would the organizations trust new certified PMs? I hope our certification will not lose value.
