These are different career paths - one is a well recognized global credential for PMs and the other is for Scrum Masters. One is education & experience-based whereas the other is only education-based. You need to decide which career path you wish to pursue and then pick one or both. Personally, I'd skip the CSM and go for the PSM or CDA if you want a credential that doesn't require years of agile experience.

I would say that it depends on you which way you are more inclined towards. The Agile Project Management is completely different from the regular Waterfall Project Management. Hence saying one is better while the other is not, will not be a valid statement to make. The choice of either ways completely depend on your project, and the requirement. Both the types have pro's and cons and it completely depends on how a project manager is able to "tailor" the methods for the benefit. Saving Changes...
Tabassum, I have done both. PMP is more rigorous than CSM. Now, it all depends on the company culture and processes which would they prefer.

Agreed, of course it depends on companies culture. I have both, companies prefer those folks because they are getting 2 in 1, means they hiring one person with two specialty which will benefit them down the road

This is true. I see more job descriptions preferring a PMP and a scrum certification (CSM usually)
Honestly, if you qualify to sit for the PMP you should always because it’s still the gold standard. After that, you can potentially skip a scrum certification if you qualify to sit for the PMI-ACP.
