Q. A project manager is working on a project for which the project sponsor is also the customer. Since the project is running smoothly, the sponsor/customer asks that the project manager send status reports only if the project is in trouble. What should the project manager do?

1) Keep track of the project and continue to inform other stakeholders of project progress.
2) Store the project status reports in the project repository rather than sending them to stakeholders.
3) Amend the communications management plan.
4) Send only high-level status updates to stakeholders.

I would bend towards making amendments to the communication management plan. At any point of time, a project manager has to work as per the communication management plan which in turn gets inputs from the stakeholders. Hence a project manager should do as per the needs of the stakeholder. But I would also keep a track of the project and would continue to inform other stakeholders of the progress, if mentioned in the communication management plan.
