Has anyone recently (last 2 months) received the hard printed copy of the PMP certificate after passing the exam?
I got certified in April 2020 but haven't received the hard copy of the certificate yet. Have tried reaching out to PMI customer care but haven't received a response yet.
Yes, PMI no longer prints certificates. There are bigger problems in the world now but I am disappointed and wanted to add it to my wall after all that hard work.
After passing I read on the website I could expect a certificate in 90 days. About that time I contacted PMI and was told printing was 'delayed' due to the pandemic. A few months later I contacted PMI and was then told they no longer print certificates. After asking why I was then told PMI made the decision to reduce the carbon footprint. Saving Changes...

HI Mohit,
we are in this together. I got certified in March 2020 and have not received a hard copy too.. PMI customer care says it's due to the Covid pandemic Saving Changes...
I got certified in May 2020. I waited and sent a message to customer service, they blamed pandemic for missing out on sending a hard copy.
I sent a message today, one year after my certification and now i got another excuse that PMI has stopped printing and sending hard copies.
“ In an effort to modernize and support our commitment to the UNGC’s Sustainable Development Goals, we will no longer provide hard copies of PMP® Certifications. All candidates who pass the PMP exam receive a digital badge through Credly, which can be shared on social media and verified by employers. This digital badge both protects the integrity of your certification and reduces your carbon footprint.
If you wish to have your certification printed, please log in to your PMI account, navigate to your myPMI Dashboard and click on 'View Certificate' to download a printable PDF copy of your certificate. ”
I honestly dont believe this and they are just cutting corners. Hundreds and thousands spent on training, certification and membership only to get a run around.
Manpreet I totally agree with your point.
Unfortunately, I got a response from them initially saying – "Would like to inform you that due to covid situation we are unable to provide hard copy of certificate to all credential holders, you can download digital copy of certificate from the dashboard, further your cooperation is appreciated."
However, with further communication, they came up with another excuse – "In an effort to modernize and support our commitment to the UNGC’s Sustainable Development Goals, we will no longer provide hard copies of PMP® Certifications."
It was really surprising to get contradictory responses from PMI and that too within a couple of hours distance.
To be frank, after spending so many hours, money and effort, if they suggest us to settle with a filthy A4 sheet printout as a token of achievement, which is a sheer disappointment. At least I didn't expect this for a prestigious organization like PMI.
I did a couple of certifications recently from some prestigious global certification bodies, and few of them moved to digitalization and yet maintained hard copy as an option.
I understand this may be a good initiative to go digital. However, the PMI should provide us an option for a hard copy. It is extremely disappointing.

I am in agreement with you 100%. I received the same message and felt extremely disappointed and upset that an organization that is nationally recognized like PMI to essentially rip off hard working PMPs like this.

I received my PMP September 25 of 2020 and still have NOT received my hard copy certificate. It is very disappointing for a widely recognized organization like this to be this delayed and to use the pandemic as the reason behind why they are unable to plan and coordinate the distribution of our certs. The business process model that included printing and shipping all certificates from the US to certificant holders world-wide was not sustainable. The lock downs and supply chain disruptions from 2020 caused PMI to make a difficult decision in regards to this matter. Please be advised that we continue to review options as we enter 2022 and appreciate your feedback!!!

Hi Glenn,
Thank you for recognizing the PMP community's frustrations with your organization's decision to no longer provide printed copies. The fees that we all paid for our exam and certification included this correct? Can you help me understand what the organization's stance regarding that? Will you folks be issuing refunds for that cost for all of us? If not I would hope that the board/panel/committee who is responsible for making these kinds of ethical decisions resonsiders the impact it has on PMP holders as well as for the organization's own reputation.

A high quality printed certificate should be provided by PMI.
The foil seal can't be reproduced by a local print shop. It looks cheap, and we all know these certifications aren't cheap. The certificate should have a look and feel that matches the high quality of the credential.
It's such a small thing but it means a lot to have that tangible piece of paper from the organization. I can't imagine that PMI prints so many certificates that it produces the largest impact in regards to your carbon footprint. It's a relatively small cost and it's passed on to the exam taker anyway.
Very disappointing. I want the paper copy. I earned it. I paid for it.
At least provide an option to those of us who want it.

Thank you for responding to the initial inquiry from a year ago. I understand PMI's perspective, but when we pay $500 for a certification, we have high expectations of the company.
I anticipate a downloadable digital copy and a digital badge from Udemy for a $10 course. But after months of diligent study and passing the exam, a physical copy is required.
If PMI cannot offer a tangible copy, the certification should cost no more than $150. Also, it is unclear why PMI would want my complete postal address since the organization will not deliver a real copy of the certificate.
Failure to give a paper copy of a prestigious certificate from PMI appears to be a major failure on the part of the project manager for PMI. Evidently, quite a few individuals are dissatisfied; I encourage PMI to investigate the problem with the utmost urgency.
Well, that doesnt help the fact that the printed certificate was included in the cost if exam and membership at the time.
I am not going to re write my exam, it was once and i dont get to put my accomplishment on the wall. A big failure for PMI.
I got my ITIL and ISACA certificates hard copy during covid. Saving Changes...

Yes this is unacceptable. First they blame the pandemic for not being able to print and mail. Not sure I understand that at all. Now its to reduce their environmental footprint? Really PMI? Saving Changes...

The shared frustration experienced by recent certification holders should trigger PMI to reconsider this policy. Fees for this was paid like in my case and I still need my hard copy

Agree with you 100%! You should reach out/contact Glenn Farrow as I have in my comment above. Actually, we all should. It looks like he respresents PMI and should be made aware of the seriousness of the matter.
