I am sure you might have faced conflicts while executing projects.
Can you please share your experience on what conflict you faced and how you managed it?

Thanks in advanced for sharing your wisdom...

Generally the conflicts I have noticed is in terms of Ego's between teams members, within different teams, Onsite/Offshore teams.

The best way to handle is work as interpreter between the teams as reason for Ego sometime is bad communication among them. Another way may be taking to the individual about the issues and then finding solution as per situation.

Thank you Rakesh for the reply...
Another area of conflict I noticed between teams working at different work location...whether it is onsite-offshore modal or team spreadout at different geographical location.

Between Onsite-Offshore Location following conflicts can happen:
1. Conflict due to difference in time-zone, where the team can only communicate either in evening or morning. and If any issue or question needs to be addressed by the team working at different timezone one has to wait until the designated meeting time.

2. Cultural difference- The work|social culture can be very much diversified.

3. Difference in attitude- The person at onsite working at client side have a different attitude towards meeting the client expectation...where-as the person at offshore have very little understanding of the statictics at client location.

4. Difference in Infrastructure- The onsite team has the leverage to use the client's infrastructure directly and their issues can be resolved easily...where as the team working remotely cannot directly access the client infrastructure and might face problems due to this.

Some conflict situation for people working in same timezone but different locations could be:
- Using shared resource and who manage that resource.
- Who is responsible for what?
- Team working at a location is only responsible to the management working there Versus Team working at different location responsible for the management working for the Project.

Some common conflict situation for any seperated teams could be:
- Communication Gap
- Interlocation competition and conflicts
- Cultural Gap
- Prejudice or Preconception against other team
- Ego as mentioned by Rakesh

The above problem can be minimized by effective Project Coordination, The project coordinator must have experience in working with

Hi Shoumik, this is a great topic. Everywhere when people are working we have the risk of conflict. I had the pleasure of interviewing Christina Bowen about how to deal with conflicts in projects and she had some awesome suggestions. You can view the (short) interview here:

I hope you like it.

Thank You Bas...for sharing this interview with Christina Bowel...
I particularly like the last question dealing with the Technical People...as I am still part of that fraternity to some extend(60-40 ratio) and I can feel the difference in perception executing a project from the Technical team and Project Management team...
I think I could raise another discussion on difference between them...
