Which certification would be an asset if you move from PM to a Software Engineering Manager?

Some people say that PMP will not be THE asset if you are going to lead a team and to have additional/different managerial responsibilities than those when being a PM especially with projects where you didn't necessarily have authority on project team members.
What do you think? And which additional certification would be an asset in the software engineering industry?
Software engineering is a technical discipline so you'd need to pick a specific aspect of it to focus on and pursue the certifications related to that. Analysis, architecture, design, development and quality all have their own specific supporting associations and certs.
