How much PMP Certification helpful for career progression in core Mechanical project/Services industry?

I have about 25 years experience in the manufacturing sector with much of that related to PM. While many people are assigned PM roles without any certification, the PMP is not at all uncommon and I have been told by hiring managers that I would not have passed the HR hiring filter without it on one occasion so it does open doors.

I personally earned the certification because I believe it shows that I have "portable" experience in how things are done in the broader industry, rather than experience limited to how my own personal employers have like things done.
