We generally talk about Team Motivation in Project Management.
I think it is not asked what motivates a Project Manager?
Though I understand as a Project Manager one has to keep himself Self Motivated (or Atleast pretend so)
Please share your motivation story for executing a particular project...

For me, when working on a project in either a team member or a Project Manage capacity, my main motivation is in being able to deliver to my stakeholders. There is nothing better than showing that you delivered what was requested within time, cost and budget. Having a strong determination to deliver and being able to encourage others to achieve that goal brings its own rewards.

If I had to pick one thing that motivates me, I'd say it's the giddiness I feel knowing that I'm going to help bring something that's just an idea floating in the ether, and make it into reality.

Something doesn't exist and then... it does.

And that process of bringing something forth from the darkness and the chaos is AWESOME!

I like knowing that the project that I am leading is directly tied to a corporate strategy, so that the success of the team is clearly part of the success of the overall orgnization. If you are disconnected from where the organization is headed, it's easy to end up "just doing a job". Guiding a team to that success and watching them grow is motivation as well.
