Am I the only one struggling to finish all the questions of a simulator on time?
English is not my first language, but I'm not that bad.

Even when I'm getting more than 75% on tests, I leave at least 15-20 questions unanswered and the last 10 are almost unread...

How to be faster? Any hint?

Is it a sign I need to review the course again to get faster?

Thanks.

My strategy is mostly in line with Sergio's:

If like the PMP, you must memorize formulas, first quickly write down your formulas on the provided scratch paper so you don't have to remember them when the questions come up. I sat in the car prior to my exam and studied exactly what I thought I needed to write down immediately in categories like EVM formulas.

I make one complete pass through exams and quickly answer only the questions where I am certain of the answer. If I am not certain of the answer, I mark it for review with my best guess if possible and move on. For me I marked 30-40% for review on the 1st pass in perhaps 1 hour.

Second pass I review the questions that require more in-depth analysis but I'm fairly sure I can identify the correct answer. Keep it marked if you're not sure. Third pass I use more a process of elimination. Some answers are clearly wrong. Many require a "best" answer which requires determining which of the possible answers best matches the keywords in the question.

Although English is my 1st language, that process took me about 3 hours to pass on my 1st try.

Hi Soha,

After reading your question, it sounds like you just need to study for a couple more weeks (not sure how long you have studied thus far). It's not about quantity but quality.

You said your scoring about 75% on the test. that means you are avg about 45 questions per hour and getting about 31.5 questions correct. you need to be getting about 36 out of 45 questions correct, which means you need to study more.

Once you understand the terms and how the processes work a little better, then your speed should naturally pick up as you go along.

Good Luck.

I believe you need to spend more time with mocks. Answering any question depends on two basic aspects. One, your understanding and two, you recollecting the right answer. You have to train your mind to read, grasp, decipher, and react quickly. I prepared for PMP by taking multiple mocks. I answered about 3000 questions. You should learn to be aware, mark a question and come back after first pass.

Soha, I recently passed the exam and relied on exam simulators for velocity. The one recommended by my bootcamp tracked performance by knowledge area during 50-question benchmark tests. With this data I worked the weak areas up to 80%. During this, I created notecards for each KA to reinforce. The marking strategy that Manish shared here is also important.
