CPM vs Resource Leveling

CPM needs activity, network and durations. PMBOK specifically states that it ignores resource limitations.

Leveling is done by incorporating practically resource callendar. How many hours and when is a resource available.

What do you actually do when during the course of the project a resource leaves the project?
Re-calculate CPM or Re-level.
