Happy to inform that I passed the PSM-1 certification exam today with 95% in first attempt.

More than the credential, the journey pushed me to learn more about Agile practices.

Thank you everyone who provided their inputs and guidance towards the Scrum framework by answering my questions posted in the forum and shared their experiences with the exam. It indeed helped to focus on the preparation and work towards the goal of passing the certification.

My Plan:

- The only resource I used was Scrum guide (googled about Burn-down charts, Technical Debt and Velocity to get an overview).

- Made my notes for quick reference

- For practice, used Open assessments (Scrum Master and Product Owner) + Quiz by Mikhail Lapshin.

Exam Interface:

- Similar to Open assessment

- I didn't face any major lag between questions and could finish the exam in 40 mins.

The questions are moderately difficult and there were a few situational questions. The key is to focus on what the guide recommends and in some cases, use logical elimination.

Good luck !!

Mohit -

Congratulations on getting your PSM-1!

If you are planning to take the subsequent certification exams, I'd strongly caution AGAINST using the feedback we provide here about the practical application of Scrum as the PSM-II and PSM-III tests against how things "should" work rather than how they really work.

Thanks for the advise Kiron. I don't have plans to do subsequent Scrum certifications yet. Rather, I would like to learn other Agile practices like Kanban, Lean etc. to broaden my understanding.

Thank you Susan. Yes, at one point I wasn't sure if I would want to pursue it since most of the concepts were unclear to me. I noticed that most of the trainers & coaches compare Scrum with Waterfall approach to highlight its benefits, which I wasn't in agreement with and didn't find a good way to learn. I think both have their pros and cons and one must focus on how Scrum can benefit a development team & the organization rather than why doing things the predictive way would lead to failure.

Anyway, as I read more about Scrum, I could understand the fundamentals of the framework better and attempt the exam.
