Hello,
I am considering enrolling in an MBA program with focus in Project Management. The program I am interested in is offered by an online university.
The MBA program is accredited by ACBSP and PMI-GAG. My question is, what is the general consensus (or your personal opinion) regarding online universities and their degrees?

Hello Alice,
I am currently enrolled in an MBA online program (with focus in the pharmaceutical industry) and I am so far satisfied with the experience.
In the past, I have also done online and in person trainigs at Insead business school, the former being significantly less expensive. The experience was positive in both cases, although the networking opportunity was not there in the online program (it usually does not go any further than a LinkedIn invitation, whereas I am still in contact with my fellow classmates of the non virtual training).
In short, assess the training as a whole (reputation of the school, background of professionals giving the MBA, what you will get out of it, etc.) and make a good ellaborated decision forward. For what you say in your message, it does seem to check off a few boxes.Good luck! Saving Changes...
It has served me well. I can't say whether an online degree has been an obstacle; I haven't received feedback to that effect, but when I job hunt I get interviews.
If there is a chance you might continue on to a PhD, at some point, make sure your school and program is regionally accredited - programs may be accredited separately. Saving Changes...

In my humble opinion, it has no sense. My recommendation is, just in case you do not have done it yet, going for an MBA (Master of Business Administration). And take it without specialization. In my personal opinion the world is going to generalization not specialization.

If someone makes a firm elaborated decision to develop in a certain industry, it makes sense to pursue an MBA focused on that field.
I have experienced several times generalistic trainings that despite being interesting cannot be translated to my field. Everything has its plus and cons.

It is just my opinion based on my personal experience and because I am performing as lecturer and professor in Universities that belongs to different counties on the world. MBA about something is just against the basic defintion of MBA, mainly when you try to get is for project management because project management is not a business based on the defintion of business (except your organization define project management as a business) and you learn and understand the definition of business inside a generalistic MBA. For me, MBA focused on something is a "fake" except the basement is the definiton of "business". But the same company will have multiple business defined into it then you are limiting your possibilities to have a new possibility for getting a new assignment in the same company. Sorry for said this but I can sustain it. Again, search for definition of "business" and people can understand the basement of my position. BUt just my personal experience, not more than that. At the end, what that matters is the objective that each of us tried to achieve and the strategy to reach it.
I earned my MS completely online. The university has a physical campus, but their masters programs were designed for working professionals, so we attended classes in real-time via WebEx. An advantage is that if you miss a class, the online students could review the video. I found the quality of course content to be excellent.
A disadvantage is that there is less interaction. As a teacher, it can be hard to "read the room". Are people understanding the lecture or tuned out? As a student, it can be easy to tune out just like in long online business meetings where there may be many distractions.
On your resume, the prospective employer may not have heard of the school, but that's also true of many smaller colleges and universities as well. Saving Changes...
