First we have to find what was the cause of the conflict and how can we resolve the effect of such conflicts.
Similarly, we can resolve the conflicts by bringing all the people for the table talks so that we can understand them and finding what was the reason behind of such conflicts which can also hamper the project working areas. We have to be clever enough to address the problem on permanently basis so that the project risk can be minimized.
Further, a project manager responsibilities is a leadership role where he have to act in such a way that he can achieve his project targets and make his site free from such conflicts, and free from other such disorders which can delay the project. Leaders role is to bring all together to perform the works and I believe that if we address the problems, we can achieve all the success what we have expected for!

I see that there are a number of different types of conflicts related to project delivery
1) conflicting requirements and constraints both managerial (budgets, time and scope/quality) and technical (best technical solution),
2) conflicts within contractual obligations - who is responsible for what, failure to deliver on promises.
3) Conflict between stakeholders on project expectations - could be part of 1) or 2) above
4) personal conflicts between i) individual project team members, ii) within corporate organization, iii) external stakeholders.

Sometimes the conflict is obvious but not always, and sometimes conflict is a combination of 1) to 4).

The most common cause of conflict, regardless of type, is poor or non-existent communications. The best way to avoid negative conflict is to avoid or address (mitigate) it before it becomes real.

Solution: recognize the risk, analyze and mitigate

At the end of the day, solving conflict requires first and foremost common sense. The way one solves conflict in the personal life can likely be applied at a project/organization level. In my opinion, it requires a good amount of soft skills, mainly in communication.

Hello Mr. Amit,

Let them fight and be the referee! (Joke).

Kidding aside, I think the best way to solved conflict (between two persons / group), is to let them voice out to each other and listen to both parties and look for the common ground to work and move forward. Let them understand the goal of the project and work towards it together.

This is not easy. If this is easy, then you no need to be there. :)

Thank you.
