Hi, I am Dr. Debkiron Mukherjee . I aim to sit for PMP certification examination before week 3 December 2020, before the changes in the exam pattern. I have obtained my PDU and even gone through PMBOK and PDU providers course materials . But still I am not being able to score more than 65 % in most of the simulation tests. I get stuck in questions on IITO as I am unable to memorize them . Can some one guide on this ! A trick of trade or something !!. Need help from anyone concerned and ready to help a learner in distress . Regards , Dr. Debkiron

Hi Dr,
Keep doing drills and simulation after reading and understanding the ITTOs .... Memorizing them sounds good but can backfire once you loose track of what you memorized.

The goal is not to memorize all 1000+ ITTOs as that is impractical and not terribly helpful given that the questions on the exam will focus on the key ones. Also, very few of the questions require pure memorization - understanding the framework to apply it to scenario-type questions is more important.

Take it one knowledge area at a time - understand the vital few ITTOs for each process and practice questions related to that knowledge area then move on to the next.

Hi Dr. Mukherjee,

I recently cleared PMP exam and would like to share a few tips from my experience. PMI is not interested in testing memory of the exam takers. The key is to understand what each process is trying to accomplish and what will be required to do those things.

For example, I struggled between communication management plan and Stakeholder engagement plan as they both seemed to be doing the same thing. Two of the most helpful things that worked for me were:

1. Rita Mulcahy's PMP exam Prep 9th edition
2. Imagining how I'd apply the processes in a real world project if I were managing it

Do not waste your time in memorizing ITTOs. I wish you all the very best.
