I am aware of the most popular scheduling tools for construction projects because they are the early entrants. With cloud based computing, there is a mushrooming effect on the project scheduling tools. While the options are many, selection becomes difficult. Based on your experience, what are the parameters one should consider while choosing scheduling tools for construction projects?.

Beyond the usual cost and features constraints, I'd suggest:

1. Security of your data
2. Ease of moving your data to/from the platform (e.g. ability to upload existing schedules to the cloud platform and to download an MS Project or equivalent format for use outside of the platform)
3. Offline usage
4. Integration capabilities with other information sources (e.g. project financial system)

Don't forget about the accessibility to the cloud.

My employer once switched versions of CAD to one where rather than printing out mechanical drawings, you access all the design data from an online viewer that accessed the 3D models. This was incompatible with customers who's mechanics only use paper printouts for work instructions and do not have computers on-site.

Make sure everyone who needs to access the schedule has the equipment to do so.

The first one is stakeholders and the second one is information security.

First of all look if the selected tool can model your project and create good project schedules taking into account all existing constraints. Without this everything else is useless.
