Job postings gone awry

Today, I came across a job on LinkedIn for a "Scrum Master" position that required, among other things, the ability to "manage 5 teams," requirements management, a strong background in MS Project, a masters degree, and 10 years of architectural design experience. Not mentioned were actual scrum master skills, such as removing impediments or facilitating retrospectives.

What are some of the worst job descriptions you've come across? And why is the talent search process so broken?

A lack of quality control over job descriptions from hiring managers and recruiters combined with a lack of understanding of what specific roles are supposed to be responsible for.

I have a small business and specialize in providing Project Management services. I have moved into the staffing space focusing on the niche of PM roles initially. Often times job descriptions may be written by staff who do not have the prior experience with the PMI space in the way we do. When I see that it shows there is a need for PMI trained professional consultant like myself and most likely a need within the org for expert level PM's.

Very often wrong job descriptions occur when Human Resources Department elaborates the profiles without and adequate coordination and assessment of the Functional Department where the job position is needed.

It is not new. It is amazing to see how the opposite you are stating can be found.

You may see this in the market. Some (not all) of them can be intentional. They really want to find smart applicants and evaluate your reaction to similar situations. Am I a fan of this? Of course not, however, this is what it is.

I'm not sure I understand when you say they want to evaluate our reaction. When I see a job posting and the description is awful, I will pass. I may not be the smartest applicant, but how will they find good applicants if the job description is poorly written?

I sometimes come across junior roles requiring 5 or more years of work experience. Which it reads "we are looking to recruit a non junior professional in return of a junior salary".

The process is broken... lack of communication or collaboration between HR and the team that have the need, using HR hiring tools and don't set up them correctly example: I got an Automatic message saying "sorry for applying this job however your Spanish level isn't fluent and we are looking for a fluent Spanish speaker" I filled the form with "native"...some times is frustrating.

I see where one young boy has just passed 500 hours sitting in a treetop. There is a good deal of discussion as to what to do with a civilization that produces prodigies like that. Wouldn't it be a good idea to take his ladder away from him and leave him up there?
