Of course, I love when PMI does market research and discovers all of us PMs and credentialed PMs should be making more money. That brings a smile to my not-making-no-where-near-what- PMIs-research-shows face. I can't wait to print out all their documentation and bring it to my boss.

However, I'm not inclined to go with just PMI's view of the matter. That's like asking a barber if I need a hair cut. PMI has a stake in the game. Getting other opinions on PM salaries is a very good idea. For instance, Payscale.com allows users to enter in very specific details about their circumstances and then generates a salary range based on that. And I can tell you, Payscale.com gives a range that is muuuuuuuuch lower than PMI's market research suggests.

When it comes to figuring out salary, getting as many facts from a few different sources is the best way to go.

Love can sweep you off your feet and carry you along in a way you've never known before. But the ride always ends, and you end up feeling lonely and bitter. Wait. It's not love I'm describing. I'm thinking of a monorail.
