Hi Everyone,

I just joined PMI. I had 5 years of experience as project manager and product owner in IT industry in my home town country. I love this field and I am looking for the opportunity to start working in this field in the US. I have master degree in engineering.

I would appreciate if you could guide me. How should I find mentor? How should I connect with more professionals who can help me to find a job in this field?

You are in the right place. ProjectManagement.com has thousands of PM professionals with years of experience. You just need to reach out to them and ask for a quick chat. All the steps are explained in this article: https://www.ntaskmanager.com/blog/how-to-find-a-mentor/

Thank you so much Josh for sharing this page. It includes valuable information.
I have one more question. You said I can reach out to professionals and ask for a quick chat. How I can reach out to them? In the forum and through out the discussion like this or there is any other way?

Welcome to the best community of professionals, I recommend you to reach out your local chapter. Usually local chapters have a mentoring program.

For job hunting, what worked for me during the last years was LinkedIn, however the local chapters also have a job posting site.

Good luck and welcome!

Hi Mayte,

Thanks for your suggestions. I will look for mentorship program in my local chapter.

Regarding job hunting, I've been sending message to so many recruiters but have never heard back. What is the trick for that?

I don't know, nowadays is challenging. What I worked for me in the last years is avoid recruiters and look for connections, a friend of a friend that work in a organization that I'm interested to work, so request a soft introduction and move from there...

So, increase your network in your area, ask for introductions in your local chapter and maybe that will help you.

Keep us posted and I wish you good luck!
