Hello All!

I have a question in regards to the requirements for taking the PMP exam. I have the four year bachelors degree along with the PM course requirement the only issue is I have only been in this particular role for a little over a year but I have had a thorough amount of experience with projects. For taking the approach of explaining a variety of projects that I have completed to see if I meet the requirements, what needs to be done?

Tyler -

if you feel you meet the number of months experience requirement for leading projects then it doesn't matter whether you were formally holding a PM job title or not. In the online PMP application form, you would submit the details of each of the projects you wished to submit for consideration.

This web page provides useful info about the application process: https://www.pmi.org/certifications/project...mp/how-to-apply

Based on what you mentioned, you qualify for CAPM, not PMP. Also if you completed variety on jobs in parallel during the same period, you can’t double count the period.

You satisfy the educational pre-requisites but not the experience one so you either take the CAPM or wait two more years till you have enough experience to apply.

Good Luck.

Hi Rami,
Thanks for your advice.
Tyler,
As said Rami, your actual experience allow to pass the CAPM certification. However, it exists anothers types of Project certification who can be fit for you just the time for your to be able to pass the PMP certification.

Hi Tyler,

I would create a excel to build your list of projects. For each you must fulfill the criteria mentioned in the PMP handbook. Download the newest one.

Together, they have to come up with the required at least 36 months of duration. Not overlapping.
The previous requirement of showing 4500 hours of efforts has been removed recently.
