Hello,
I would like to ask around for some advice on how to get into projects or leading projects, which is one of the requirements to take the PMP certifications.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and currently working as a receptionist in a non-profit organization. And I'm having a hard time on where and how to be a part of a project or lead a project as the organization is small and there are not a big project that require multiple people to chip in. So it's kind of impossible for me to tackle that one requirement not only to get the certification, but also to get a job as a Project Manager later on.
Any tips, comments, suggestions are welcome.
Thank you all!

you may search project based companies in your field .i guess the companies that are involved in delivering engineering solution and technical services use project framework.you will definitely find a role ,but you will have to negotiate well to take you onboard .Best luck Saving Changes...
Hi Audrey!
That's a great question to ask. I think you need to look in the following areas:
- Getting experience in projects
- Learning the basics of Project Management skills.
You can gain experience through your work and learning the basics can be done through a training. Could you speak to your manager or HR about the opportunities that might exist or where your skills could be used?
Good luck and I wish you a lot of success! Saving Changes...
You should also consider actively volunteering with either a PMI chapter OR with a not-for-profit association of your choice as you'd likely find many opportunities to lead a whole project (e.g. a fundraising event) or a major workstream within a large project.
As other noted, my recommendation is volunteer or looking for an internship. Some organizations look for grads in their internship programs, so far I saw that they are looking to cover the coordinator role.
Good Luck Saving Changes...

Volunteer with a local PMI Chapter, start a PMI blog, volunteer with PMIEF or non-profits (like the United Nations, Habitat for Humanity, CUSO International, UNICEF, etc). Saving Changes...
I consider LinkedIn, Twitter to be excellent platforms for knowledge-sharing, building relationships, and networking. Also, expressing your interest (on the media) in participating in project management activities could help. Saving Changes...
