According to Indeed.com, the PMP is the 13th most requested certification in their job postings (source: Indeed Career Guide, 2 Nov 2020 article). The majority of the requested certifications are in the medical field with a few exceptions (who knew Forklift certifications where in such high demand)? Any other surprises?

1. CPR certification
2. BLS certification
3. Certified nursing assistant
4. ASE certification
5. ACLS certification

6. First Aid certification
7. ServSafe certifications
8. Certified medical assistant
9. Scrum master certification
10. PALS certification

11. Forklift certification
12. BC/BE
13. PMP certification
14. Child Development Associate certification
15. ARRT certification

16. Pharmacy Technician certification
17. NRP certification
18. Home Health Aide certification
19. CompTIA Security+ certification
20. CISSP

I find it interesting that the Scrum master certification is in higher demand than the PMP. It shows the prominence of Agile.

Good share @Troy. Many of these have to do with operations. In an organization like mine, the projects are always added to your primary duties. Perhaps that is common and the list reflects it.

Agree. Even for part-time PMs, the knowledge from the PMP certification process and community is helpful to make those side projects successful.

The priority and ranking for a certification is heavily dependent on the industry so rankings might change based on the field.

Yes, it would be interesting to see this ranking by industry, for instance, technology, financial services, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, government, etc. Maybe that will be a follow-up Indeed.com article.

Another thing to keep in mind is that this list is from NOV'20, and we're seeing significant demand in the medical fields. What fields will be in demand post-pandemic? I suspect PMP and Agile will remain, but there will be a shift away from medical and toward IT.

I don't think that this chart is a relevant basis for general conclusions. Look at the other certificates in the list.
How you can compare PMP with "First Aid certification" or "CPR certification (another first-aid certificate)" - they have nothing in common!
