I am doing some research on the differences between Project & Portfolio Management reporting and I need some help. Can anyone please tell me what types of reports companies are looking for or using for both project & portfolio management. All suggestions are greatly welcomed.
Thanks in advance.

Here's a great book on portfolio management that talks extensively about using portfolios to manage groups of projects and tracking benefits across an organisation: Taming Change with Portfolio Management. Hope that helps. Saving Changes...
I am doing some portfolio reporting and what senior managers are focussed on is organisational capacity, not only to deliver the projects but also absorb the change they implement. So resource planning, strategic alignment, ROI etc are all key considerations in porttfolio reporting, whilst project reporting is more on achievements, slippages etc. Saving Changes...

In my organisation it's about:
- Exception reporting of what's in trouble (Reds and Ambers);
- Escalating issues that (may) require executive intervention
- High level analysis of where we're spending money and for what benefit (breaking down the portfolio by category, e.g. Keeping the Lights On / Growth / Strategic Projects)
If you can wait until 12Apr11 there's a free webinar on this topic from Daptiv, go to https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/817225498 to register.
Hope this helps, Ken Saving Changes...
