What, if anything, are you doing now to prepare for year end? It might be something for your projects, or for your career development. I'm doing some financial planning for accruals, and making sure all my invoicing is up to date. I'm sure there are other things I could be up to, in order to smooth the transition into the new year. What do you recommend?

Hi Elizabeth

That is an interesting topic!
Year end is always food for thought! professionally it is about where I am, what were my achievements for the year and how well did I perform, could I have done things in a different way and where do I want to be for the next year following, this may include additional training for example to enhance my knowledge to help me grow and reach further career aspirations.

Personally I am happy surrounded by my family and friends we give each other support at all times whether times are good or not so good. Try to be positive and not take life too seriously. My motto is one door closes and a new better one opens.

New Year resolutions, no I don't make them !

I recap the work I've done for the year, and prepare a training/education plan for the next year. I focus on 3-4 topics I particularly want to improve. Then I make a calendar on how to tackle those items throughout the year ... whether it be training sessions, books, or things to try within my teams.

Having this calendar keeps these goals in focus, regardless of what goes on with my everyday projects.

Vasoula, you don't make new year's resolutions? I can't help but make them, whether I want to or not - it's part of the psyche of passing into a new year for me. Not that I stick to them! Now I've done MSP I do need to think about what training or professional development would be pertinent going forward, to keep my skills up. I'm sure I can find someone to train me in something new, as I imagine many of the education providers will be doing new year special offers!

I suppose it is a tradition to make New Year resolutions and could be fun if many people don't break them, I personally don't make any yes I know it is sad but since I know what is needed to make my professional life and personal life easier, I do aim to have smaller goals throughout the year and do achieve them.

Hi Elizabeth

My plan is to take a holiday. Didn't get a chance last year and this year I am going to make up for it. Other than that might find the time to write a book on risk management.
