I'd recommend starting by joining your local PMI chapter and participate in their events to build your network up. If you've never taken a formal, foundational course in PM, I'd also suggest that.

Hi
Seeing that you shared you have had opportunities to manage various product development projects, It sounds like at minimum you can leverage the experience from monitoring, managing, and reporting the development of the projects. Possibly more ! Look at this page https://www.project-management-prepcast.co...es/682-pmp-itto The reasources on that website will describe process groups, inputs and outputs that the PMBOK refers to. This might give you some ah ha moments as to where your experince correlates to the PMBOK phases. All the best !

Have you explored the opportunities at your current employer? You could leverage your knowledge of the company to manage your first projects beyond product development. In addition, and as Kiron indicated, taking a course to learn the key aspects of project management would be very helpful.
