New PMP exam dates - out of alignment with new PMBOK 7th ed availability

I don't see an opportunity to take my PMP exam before the format changes Dec 31st 2020 as there is no availability end of December, yet the 7th edition of the PMBOK is not out until end March 2021. On what basis am I supposed to prepare for an exam within Q1 2021? Any advice/guidance on which resources to use?

Becky -

(Nice to see you are in Twickenham as that was where I lived for a few years as a child before my parents moved to Canada. 49 Cross Deep Gardens to be exact :-) )

The new exam is not tied to the Seventh Edition of the PMBOK Guide. The references for it (including the Sixth Edition) are here: https://www.pmi.org/certifications/project...-reference-list

PMI regularly has volunteers refresh the questions in the exam "pool" so it is likely that once the Seventh Edition is published there may be some new questions generated which reference sections in the Seventh Edition.

However, having participated in a few exam item writing sessions in the past, if memory serves, volunteers are required to find two separate references supporting the questions they come up with so solely referencing the PMBOK Guide would not be an option.

Hope that helps!

Becky, agree with what Kiron said.

Most people I know read the exam content outline
- https://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/...ent-outline.pdf
- the PMBoK ed 6
- the accompanying Agile Practice Guide (APG)

to cover the core of exam content.
