Before I go explaining my question, please understand that I fully expect the PM to take all the flack and carry all the responsibility. My question below is not about making excuses, but genuinely finding conditions where you are going to be stable and productive.
Often in a job interview, a lot is demanded of the PM. The organisation usually never comes clean on their own flaws or even where they've had difficulties before. The PM then believes that the project is backed up by a stable organisation.
The new PM follows the processes that the organisation has dictated, but what if as you progress, you see that things are not as you expected them?
I'm starting to feel very despondent about work. Even though I know I have to be strong through key periods - I know for a fact that the organisation won't address key issues in the future. On the other hand, the people are very nice and I have no qualms working with them.
So my issue is this - if one chooses to move on, how do you avoid this in your next interview? Lots of job ads look like templates so it does'nt seem that you can glean much from there.
What steps/measures could you take when looking/going for interviews to ensure that you do get an accurate picture of the project and organisation?
