Project success is the delivery of the defined scope (product) within the specified constraints. Product success is the ability of the deliverable to meet expectations including business, political, cultural and social considerations. In your question you reference project success and product acceptability as if they are one and the same. Not so.
If the business case defines the wrong product and that product is identified as the project objective which is subsequently successfully delivered that delivery does not make it an acceptable product.
