Keep a track of the hours you spent reading (1 PDU per hour), and have evidence in the form of notes you took based on the reading in case your submission gets challenged.

That's good to know. I was thinking about doing some self directed study on gaining competitive advantage. I also noticed that there are book review groups to gain PDU hours. Saving Changes...
Good to know for my next book - I only put 1 PDU for one book. Saving Changes...

Hi. I am new to PMP and am currently trying to figure out how to get PDUs.
I read a book sometime ago from my PMP exam list and have taken notes. How do I register the hours I spent on reading the book? Do I need to upload my notes somewhere? What is the maximum amount of hours I may register for reading a book? I guess I needed something around 5h to read it.
Thank you so much for an answer. Saving Changes...
You would report PDUs for reading in the same manner as any other PDU reporting - from the Report PDUs on CCRS option under the main Certifications menu in pmi.org.
You don't have to upload your evidence supporting the submission but if the submission gets rejected or challenged you should have it handy to be able to submit it.

Thank you very much, Kiron. I found it and just submitted my claim. From now on I know what to do.

Not explicitly stated anywhere, Soha, but my guess is if someone claimed all 60 PDUs for a PMP recertification cycle purely based on reading, it might raise a red flag...
