Where can detailed information be found on the changes made to the PMP exam (as of Jan 2021)? How will the setup change and how to best prepare without any learning material out so far for the 2021 test.
Thank you in advance!

Dear Bianca
You can obtain all this information on the PMI website, with particular reference to the link:

As it looks like PMI has retired a lot of the content related to the old exam from their primary website, you can get the Exam Content Outline (ECO) for the old and new exams here as well as a crossover mapping at the bottom of this page: https://www.pmi.org/update-center/certification-changes/pmp

There are a few ways to prepare:

1. Self-study using the reference materials PMI provided here: https://www.pmi.org/certifications/project...-reference-list

2. Take a prep course from a PMI Authorized Training Partner who would deliver PMI's "official" PMP prep courseware

3. Self-study using a guide such as the RMC book which has been updated for the new exam or take a course from a non-ATP provider.

However, with little intel available from folks who might have taken the new exam, #3 is likely to be risky until a bit later on this year which would allow third-party providers a chance to inspect & adapt their materials based on feedback from those who have taken the exam.

Good luck!

There are some new format questions (such as drag/drop or select two/three answers rather than a single radio button), but I found (having passed on 4th Jan) that the main change (such as I can determine from various sims and question banks) is in the Agile / Hybrid / Predictive themes which are worked into the wording of the questions. I found the PMPrepCast sim 2021 extremely useful - I have no comparison to reference with other sims.

What will be the deadline for taking the exam still in version six of PMBOK? Until what date PMI will be scheduling exams in version six of PMBOK ?

Hi Adriana,

The exam is actually based on the ECO (Exam Content Outline) for which you can find a link below, NOT the PMBOK.

PMBOK 6th ed is still one of the reference documents used to compile the exam questions, as is the Agile Practise Guide, and tens more publications too!

I suggest to read around a bit/find great videos online - particularly in areas where you might be weaker. Base your learning on the ECO. When you get your results sheet a day or so after passing the results will be defined in terms of your performance against the ECO.

OLD ECO: https://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/...xam-outline.pdf

NEW ECO: https://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/...cf-c4b1c5e2d164
