Hi Everyone-

I'm very interested in getting my PMP certification however I've encountered some confusion in navigating the Project Management / PMI portals in how to get my 35 hours. Does it matter if I do a self-paced online course or does it have to be in person?

Does anyone have any programs they would recommend? I'm in the Denver area if there is anything in person going on..

Any PMI approved education provider is good for obtaining your 35 hours of training and it can be in-person, virtual, or on-demand. I used PMTraining as my training provider and took their on-demand course which is also the most affordable. I passed on the first attempt so I would recommend them. https://www.pmtraining.com

Just to note: I'm not affiliated with this company, just recommending a training provider that worked for me.

I will not write something new but my recommendation is reading the Certification Handbook document where you will find the detail about it. Just in case you still have doubts my recommendations is contacting PMI´s Customer Care by email.

Hi Lina, all our experiences here are different. For me, the HR folks in my org maintained a license agreement with Skillsoft. This provider runs a boot camp every other month and I completed it in May through their Skillport and Percipio platforms. In this case, the 35 hours consisted of 15 hrs with an instructor over Zoom and the rest by virtual modules.

There's a bit of variety out there and hopefully that helps you a bit. Let us know how you're doing with getting started!

Greetings Lina,
I agree with Sergio, check the handbook, and verify with PMI if there's any doubt. I attended a virtual bootcamp, but I believe self-paced course also qualifies, as long as it applies to the PM areas.

Hi Lina,
There a quite a number of boot camp PMI course providers which can qualify for the 35 hours prerequisite. Kindly verify with PMI customer care if the provider is authentic

Search for PMI REP (Registered Education Providers). There's a list on PMI Website too.
These will be able to provide you with the 35 hours. Some are class based, some self-learning. Most of them would require an exam in the end to ensure you are eligible for the certificate.

It can be a self-paced online course such as PMI's own PMP prep course (https://www.pmi.org/learning/courses/pmi-a...pmp-exam-prep). Just make sure it is from a reputable provider and they provide you with proof of course completion as well as tracking the hours you would have spent taking it in case your application gets audited.

Like Sergio, I suggest reading the certification handbook as guidelines might have changed a bit with the introduction of the new ATP program. However, you can still take a course with a non-ATP through Udemy or elsewhere and apply for the 35 contact hours.

You can do this course in PMP Training: https://www.pmtraining.com/pmp/on-demand-course.
It's from a Premier Authorized Training Partner (ATP) of the Project Management Institute
