Raj, MS Project should come in good stead even for an Agile development scenario. I would like to hear in what specific areas are you facing challenges in resource utilization and progress tracking.
On a different note, Collabnet's Scrumworks and Teamforge is also a great tool for Agile PM tasks.

I agree, a project management tool like MS Project should be manageable. What sort of problems are you having?

I hear you Rajkumar.

I found that best way to manage agile projects by using MS Project to map milestones and top level activities.

Also I used the MS Project to record "past week" activities.

Then I would recommend using a task list with reminders, something that the team members can communicate on and something that triggers reminders. There are plenty on the internet.

Stand-up meetings are very effective also.

Document management or subversion control is also something I used in combination with the above. I drove the team in releasing work in a controlled way and because what I used (huddle.com) had also revision control and approval process built in it really helped me.

Then use a issue tracking tool. These guys from Jira have quite a nice collection of tools on their website. But there are others like Podio or Groupcamp.

My advise is in first stage:
- make your project plan top level and add details as much as you can manage
- do stand-up meetings (10-15 minutes every day) only when the project is in critical delivery mode and then make the meetings every other day
- use anything you feel comfortable to assign tasks, with reminders and responsible
- have a way to control work output if you don't already use a document management system
- once a week take the time to review your work and update your project plan to the smallest detail (seriously).

PS: Don't overwhelm the team and try things out in such way that you can manage your work better and the team is not loosing focus.
