I would suggest that risk identification and management is a team assignment and typically would involve the significant stakeholders and project participants. The PM's role is to lead the effort rather than personally take on the task ( ...your job to predict project risks). In a proper workshop setting the client would be expected to participate in the risk and benefit identification and management process.
