Dear PMP Aspirants,
I passed PMP exam on 29th December on the basis of 1 month study. I studied 3 hours on working days while about 10 hrs. on Weekly offs, holidays etc.
My approach was as follows:
1. Make good use of 35 contact hours training you take from a good institute. There you will get an outline of PMBOK and you will become familiarized with basic concepts.
2. Then study Rita Mulcahy's book. The language of the book is nice, that is, it is like the author conversing with you. So you will find learning interesting.
3. Start solving PMP question papers alongside first starting with Daud Nasir's book. (You may use any other good resource)There are 3 question papers here. After you solve each question paper and count you score it is important to go through answers and explanations. This will help you know where and why you went wrong in answering the questions. It will help you to understand the logic of answering the questions. Most of the questions are situational in the actual exam.
3. Now you go for study of PMBOK. The language if formal. So it is advisable to study it after Rita Mulcahy in my opinion. Now you will find it interesting to read.
4. You may also use any other quality resources available in the market for preparation if you want and if necessary. I however, studied only Rita Mulcahy's book and PMBOK.
5. Now you must go for any top resource for simulated online exam of 4 hours duration. Your aim should be eventually getting atleast 140 out of 200 questions. You should attempt atleast 2 simulated exams.
6. Time management during real exam is important. Very lengthy questions can be revisited later. During my own exam I could manage 196 questions only due to time constraint.
Best of luck!
