Does anyone know if you can sit for your ACP certification before getting PMP?

PMP Certification is the basis, and then, with the principal knowledge gained, you can aim to achieve other certifications. As an analogy, PMP is like a Cooking book, and ACP is only a recipe in that book.

You can sit at any PMI certification when you are ready.
Yes, you can do ACP first or PMP first.
Veronica is right saying that PMP gives a broader view and ACP deepens the knowledge.

Some take ACP first, if it is more relevant to their work or since it is easier than PMP. Some take PMP first if they want to join a 1 million community or they want/need to know a wider range of PM knowledge. So it depends on your situation.

I have both. If you see the ACP requirements you will see that getting PMP helps to fulfil some requirements but both are totally independent.

The advantage of having your PMP first is you waive the "general PM experience" criteria for the ACP.

If you are qualified to write the exam, then yes.
