Now, I’m in progress of PgMP panel review.
Almost 2 weeks passed, I have not received any reply yet.
Exam handbook indicates that it takes up to 60days, however, some applicant’s web bogs sais that they were got the reply within 2 weeks.

How long does it take time generally, recent years?
Thanks,

Hi Masaki, If rejected, do you have to submit payment again or do you have a chance to further elaborate on your summaries?
Mia

Previously, the PgMP handbook issued in October 2017 used to mention the following:

"PMI will refund you US$375 if you fail Evaluation 1 – Panel
Review, or if you have not yet scheduled or taken the PgMP examination."

However, the current handbook dated August 2020 doesn't mention anything about this which makes me believe that PMI reconsidered this and you will get full refund if you fail the Panel Review. To be on the safe side, better contact customer care for confirmation.

On another note, when the application goes to panel review, it takes up to 60 days for approval, and there can be three outcomes:

1) Application is Approved and you have then 1 year to pass the exam.

2) Panel will request additional information before makign a final decision.

3) Application is rejected.

Hope this helps.

Oh wow, that’s almost twice the time it is supposed to take.
Denis

Looking at the new PgMP handbook issued in August 2020, looks like PMI revised the panel review period from 4 weeks to 60 days.

If you received this feedback immediately after submitting your application then I believe you were subject to a random audit which not everyone is subjected to but if you did receive those comments from the Panel Review phase, then it’s normal to receive such comments back.

However, those comments that you received are mentioned in the PgMP Handbook in the section about how to detail and write your experience so I suggest you go back and re-visit that section in the handbook.

Hope this helps. Good Luck !

I agree with Rami's advice.

One thing I would like to add is that I also received an email from PMI the day after I submitted the application advising me on how to revise the application, including how to write a strategic goal.
(There were no grammar correct instructions.)

So, I guess the email you received is not uncommon.

I reapplied reflecting the advice from PMI and finally I was able to get my PgMP. So I guess you don't have to worry so much.

Good Luck!

Hi Abdelhalim and Rami,

I submitted my application and received a similar email days after.

Did you find you had to rewrite your Strategic Goal areas significantly, Rami? I've tried to keep all my answers relatively concise but since getting the email I am second guessing all of my answers.

In referring to the feedback, it advises us to capture: (1) the strategic goal given to you to accomplish by the organization (2) identified with action in the verbiage (3) and with a metric. I felt like I captured all of this within two or three sentences for each of my programs, but I wonder now if it's not enough or if I should add more detail just to be safe.

I didn't run into the same problem when I submitted my application. My application was initially approved by PMI then it went into Panel Review and I received approval in 2 weeks time. My application was 17 Pages in total and each of the of Experience Summary Questions was almost a whole page.

I find it extremely difficult to capture and express all of this in two to three sentences. You need to be a story teller and go into details of how you did, why you did it, what metric you used, why you chose this metrics and so on. I would highly recommend you add more detail and follow the PgMP handbook for the style of writing because even if your application will go through PMI, it might not pass through the panel if you briefly expressed everything. Panelists need to see that you truly worked in Program Management, you truly know why and how you did every activity and the rationale behind your decision. Trust me, I know for a fact, they do review it thoroughly and same applies for the Potfolio Management.

There is no intention to complicate thoigns for you but I know many fall into this trap and then face a dead end trying to write their application because I provide Application and Certification guidance as part of my business so I see all sorts of situations when it comes to applications.

Hope this helps - Good Luck.

Hi Rami, thank you so much for the thorough response. I really appreciate it. Apologies if I wasn't very clear in my earlier message. My experience summaries are quite in depth and thorough, but I received an email from PMI about the Program Experience section particularly as it relates to the Strategic Goal. This section is the one I felt I could capture succinctly in a few sentences. Based on what you've seen, however, do you suggest for these sections to be quite detailed as well?

You’re welcome Mia. Yes, those sections about Program Experience should be detailed as well, not just briefly mentioned.

You can mention the strategic goal in details, why they are pursuing this goal, budgets, how many projects and sub-programs does the program have, and how you are going to measure success or benefits and how are you going to sustain benefits.

Hope this helps.
