Each day offers its own unique opportunities, different types of challenges we run across as we navigate through personal and work activities.

What can you do today to invigorate your motivation? Let's take an extra moment to think in terms of curiosity ---

Ask questions; be curious. Show up and look through a lens of curiosity and interest.

How did it go for you?

Good question, Andrew! I'm employing lateral thinking on this sunny Sunday by trying to look through the eyes of my puppy to see how the world appears to him!

Very cool. I'm sure the world looks big, maybe a bit confusing, and lots of possibilities (or ways to cause trouble!)

Nothing more curious than a puppy, kitten, or child. It's easy for them!

Andrew,

besides trying to practice empathy with my 10 weeks old puppy, probably similar to Kiron, I get a lot from my mentorships ranging from refugees in Germany to unemployed PMPs, to young PMs trying to build a career, to MBA thesis support.
And giving webinars to PMI Chapters and other groups.

Diversity and personal growth means learning from other humans, from their culture, life situations, current problems and how they try to cope. Sometimes humiliating how they handle difficult situations and asking myself what would I do, in my bubble of wealth?

Now we are virtual and our neighbours may be far away.

That's really amazing, Thomas. I can only imagine how much you are learning and the opportunities you have to help through your mentorship.

Things provide such a different perspective when we look at things not through judgment, rather through humility and compassion.

And more puppies! Wow. If nothing else, Covid helped clear out the shelters!

Andrew or Drew, now I don't know how to call you :)
Being part of a local TEDx event open a world of learning opportunities for me, I started with the idea of being there 1 or 2 years to explore the diversity in my community and this year is my 5th year.
I'm so thankful to be part of something that keeps my curiosity and my motivation up up up!

Hi Mayte, please, you can call me Drew, but I'll answer to both :)

I remember when you began to share your interest and experiment. Seems so long ago. It must be amazing to reflect on your journey, all the new things you've been exposed to, the learning and growth, and now the new perspectives you have.

In order to better understand the world, I try to explore various topics that would be far from my personal interests so that I learn new things in the process.

As an example, I took an online course on the justice system in Australia (I liked the description of the course and realised it was related to the AU system later on) and it was so much fun and interesting to be part of.
I would read books on the human body even if I was never quite interested in biology or anatomy.
Lately I started exploring a little bit the basics of the psychology and it is fascinating so I will definetly go deeper into that.
Also for some reason I got a sudden interest in pirate history so I have started reading and watching documentaries and listening podcasts about that.

I believe we can learn from everything as long as we keep an open mind and having these explorations feels like a great adventure to me.

This is a great story, Adela. Thanks, for sharing.

I'd be interested how all of the additional learning has made its way into your professional life. Has it changed you analogies, tidbits, ice-breaker opportunities? I'd bet you'd be a great resource for 'Did you Know' fact sharing.

I agree with Adela. I think we can learn from everything and everyone.
Hello, good game to stimulate participation. Every day, I read the worldwide new tendencies and how people try to adapt to their environment. Here, it is the start point for motivating my brain to create innovative solutions.

Elena, that's a great point. And the goal. Stimulate something new in you and others. And, yes, we should have fun with it!

Yes, it allows for more interesting discussions than the weather ^^

Otherwise, I noticed that it helps my sense of observation and analysis.

The new knowledge about psychology made me look differently at people and I find myself applying different tips that make me more present when exchanging with others. I have a new enhanced sense of empathy and overall I can read a little better the room when in a meeting.

Reading about history has helped me understand motivations behind actions. I try to always remind myself to look for that in my work so that I can understand what the others are driven by and therefore better negotiate, collaborate and exchange. I truly believe that this enhances my strategic thinking abilities.
Learning about the past and how a situation has been handled also provides a list of good options in case a difficult situation arises.
